The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is a computer-based test of the English language that assesses the ability of a non-native speaker of the language to study in an English-speaking academic environment.
PTE academic is accepted by several institutions around the world as a valid assessment of proficiency in the English language and is approved by the UKBA for visa applications. The PTE Academic consists of 20 different types of tasks that effectively measure language skills such as Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Some of the tasks measure integrated skills (reading and speaking). The total time taken for the test is three hours.
