Teaching at Schools in Abu Dhabi
Intelligent Partners has been selected by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) in United Arab Emirates to facilitate the recruitment of certified teachers for schools located all across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) was established in September, 2005 to develop and implement innovative educational policies and programs that aim to improve education throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and support educational institutions and staff in accordance with the objectives of national development.

With a view to reform the education system ADEC has embarked on an extremely ambitious program that involves recruitment of high quality teachers. Initially, the focus will be on primary school but teachers for higher grades are also welcome to apply. Compensation packages are comprehensive and competitive.

Location
Teachers in Abu Dhabi will be assigned to public primary school within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in three regions: Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain, Al Gharbia. ADEC has 305 public schools under its umbrella.

Application and Interviews
All applicants must submit an online application through Intelligent Partners. Shortlisted candidates’ will have personal interviews with ADEC personnel at various locations in United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada and South Africa. Candidates will be responsible for their own travel arrangements to these locations.

Qualification for Teachers
Minimum qualification required is:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science supported with a postgraduate specialization in teaching.
  • Proficiency in English equivalent to native English speaker, or IELTS minimum 6.5
  • TESOL/TEFL certification cannot be a substitute for the specialist qualification in teaching.

A minimum of two years post qualification experience is desirable.

Criminal Background Check
All applicants must provide a report of their criminal background check at the time of their in-person interview.

Class Size and Subjects in Abu Dhabi
In schools, there are typically 20 students per class. Cycle 1 schools include kindergarten to grade 5, Cycle 2 is grade 6 to 9, and Cycle 3 is grades 10-12. Government schools follow a national curriculum. The majority of the students will be local Emiratis, with boys and girls taught is separate facilities.

Medium of instruction will be English for English, Mathematics, Science and IT curriculum, but the students have limited knowledge of English, depending on the area.

The hiring of high quality teachers for Grades 1-2 is the focus of this recruitment initiative. Contact hours are expected to be 35 hours per week. The job will include teaching, assessment and reporting.

Compensation Package:
The remuneration package includes:

  • Depending upon experience and credentials, a teacher will earn a take home salary of AED 11,000 - 16,000/ month. (1 US $ = 3.675 AED). All personal income is tax free in the United Arab Emirates. Please check with your own government regarding the possible payment of income taxes in country of origin.
  • Accommodation (apartment) will be provided by ADEC; furniture or furniture allowance provided. Utility bills will be paid by the teacher.
  • Contract will be for 2 years, renewable.
  • Heath insurance to be provided by UAE national insurance company
  • End of service bonus computed on basic salary as noted in the contract
  • Annual paid leave - around 10 weeks in summer, plus government holidays.
  • Airfare from home country to Abu Dhabi for self, spouse and up to three children under the age of eighteen at commencement and end of contract

The potential to save is immense and teachers often save in excess of 60% of their take home pay.
