The University of Wales, Newport was admitted to the University of Wales as a University College in April 1996 and became a full Constituent Institution of the University of Wales in 2003.

University Campuses

The University has two campuses at Caerleon and in Newport city centre, with a free bus service running regularly between them (via Newport Railway Station and Caerleon Road).

The University offers approximately 650 self-catered single study 3* bedrooms at its purpose-built student village at Caerleon campus, which is an historic, lively campus with panoramic views.

Newport School of Art, Media and Design

Art education at Newport has a long and proud history. During the last four decades the School has achieved international prominence for innovative programs in interactive arts and digital media as well as outstanding photographic, film and design courses. It currently runs its courses at both the Caerleon campus (Art and Photography) and the new City Campus.

Newport Business School

Newport Business School is based at the new City Campus in the heart of Newport city centre. The School brings together the expertise of two departments: the Department of Engineering and Professional Studies (with divisions of Accounting & HR and Engineering & Construction) and the Department of Business and Computing (with divisions of Management & Marketing, Business & Law, and Computing).

The School has thousands of students enrolled on its courses from all over the world.

Newport School of Education

The School of Education is based at the Caerleon campus. The School includes the Department of Teacher Training and the Department of Education and Humanities.

Newport School of Health and Social Sciences

The School of Health and Social Sciences currently runs courses at the Caerleon campus. The School has two departments, the Department of Health and Sport and the Department of Social Sciences.
