More than 1,000 courses support 200 major fields of study at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as professional certificate and continuing education programs. Courses of instruction are offered in business administration, education and human services, engineering, law, liberal arts and social sciences, science, and urban affairs. As nearly 90 percent of Cleveland State's students work full- or part-time, flexible academic programming and convenient class times are offered. Of our 16,000 students, approximately one-third is in graduate-level programs and about half attend on a part-time basis. The University also boasts more than 150 student organizations, including national fraternities and sororities and NCAA Division I athletics.

The Cleveland State campus consists of more than 85 acres -- the largest footprint in downtown Cleveland -- with 40-plus buildings used for teaching, research, housing, administration, and recreation. "Building Blocks for the Future," the University's $500-plus million campus master plan, is changing the face of both campus and downtown Cleveland while creating a vibrant living and learning community in the heart of the city. New or renovated buildings include a recreation center; apartment-style student housing, a restaurant, an administration center, a College of Graduate Studies building, and more. Opening in 2010: a new student center, the first-ever home for the College of Education and Human Services, and additional student housing.

Our faculty is tops, too, with more than 93 percent holding the highest degree in their field. Four out of five hold the Ph.D., a figure unmatched by any other Ohio university. In 2005-06, CSU ranked first in Ohio and second in the nation for faculty winning the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award.

Throughout their engaged learning experience at CSU, students interact with these professors, not graduate assistants, in classrooms, laboratories and research teams. All of our accepted students are admitted onto the main campus, not to a branch or a two-year program within the institution.
