Through its broad multidisciplinary liberal arts programs, the College offers programs leading to Bachelor's of Arts, Bachelor's of Science and Bachelor's of Professional Studies degrees in such curricula as the arts, natural and behavioral sciences, business, teacher education and the humanities.

The curriculum at the College at Old Westbury is carefully designed to enable students to compete in the global economy or to pursue further studies at the finest graduate and professional schools.

Students enrolled at the College can select a course of study from the following Schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, Business and Education. The departments within the School of Arts and Sciences are: American Studies; Biological Sciences; Chemistry and Physics; English; History and Philosophy; Mathematics/Computer Information Sciences; Modern Languages; Politics, Economics and Law; Psychology; Sociology; and Visual Arts. The departments within the School of Business are: Accounting; Finance & Business Economics; and Management, Marketing, & Information Systems. The departments within the School of Education are: Childhood Education; Adolescence Education; and Exceptional Education. Graduate programs in Accounting, Taxation, Education and Mental Health (Counseling) are also available.

The strength of the College's academic offerings has attracted the interest of what has become one of the most diverse student populations in the nation. Offering instruction to this multicultural body of students is an equally diverse, internationally acclaimed faculty that boasts the highest percentage of Distinguished Teaching and Service Professors in the SUNY system. Old Westbury students learn from instructors who include a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, Fulbright Scholars, a Guggenheim Fellow, a CASE New York State Professor of the Year and recent recipients of awards and research grants from such prestigious organizations as the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Science Foundation.
