Truman State University
Truman State University is a public institution that was founded in 1867. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 5,468, its setting is rural, and the campus size is 140 acres. It is located in Kirksville in northeastern Missouri and named after President Harry Truman, the only President born in the state. Among Truman's most recent successes include: four regional championships for women's volleyball, a regional berth for men's basketball in 2006, and undefeated regular seasons for both men's and women's soccer. In March 2008, the women's swim team won their seventh NCAA Division II National Championship title in eight years, again beating there in state rival Drury University. The team holds the record for most national titles won in their division.
At Truman State University, 48.0 percent of full-time undergraduates receive some kind of need-based financial aid and the average need-based scholarship or grant award is $3,820.
