Founded in 1831, Xavier University is a Jesuit, Catholic university in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its three colleges offer 83 undergraduate majors, 52 minors and 11 graduate programs to 7,019 total students, including 4,368 undergraduates. The University is the sixth-oldest Catholic university in the nation and one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities nationwide.

Xavier has been recognized as one of the nation's best colleges and universities for 16 consecutive years in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings, including #3 in the Midwest in the 2011 rankings.

Cincinnati is centrally located in the heart of the American Midwest at the midway point of the Ohio River. It offers residents and visitors a surprising combination of both big city attractions and small town charm.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Students will have the option of living on campus. You will quickly find that the residential experience at Xavier provides many learning opportunities in a unique living environment. Residents live and learn within close proximity to classes, faculty offices, the library, recreational facilities, and the Gallagher Student Center.

On-campus living provides a means for meeting a diverse group of people and learning more about yourself. The Residence Life staff works to assist you in getting the most out of your education both inside the classroom and out. Students living on-campus benefit from the learning environment, the people, and the programs offered.

Students residing on-campus will live in one of the four residence halls as a first year or sophomore student. Junior, seniors and graduate students may live in one of the several apartment buildings on-campus.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT XAVIER

Students from over 50 countries are enrolled at Xavier at the under-graduate and graduate levels. Xavier's also the best place in Cincinnati to learn English-language proficiency. Here, you'll find a welcoming community and a friendly, family-style atmosphere-just like home.

The Center for International Education assists with orientation, adjustment services, information dissemination and critical issues such as immigration, arrival and transportation, housing and health insurance.
The center has a small library, comfortable work spaces and a "living room" that welcomes all students who want to develop a global perspective and an appreciation for other cultures.
The center serves as a second home on campus for international students, who come to enjoy cultural activities, coffee, lunch or just a place to check their emails and visit with friends.
The Office of Interfaith Community Engagement brings together people of all faiths for dialogue and enlightenment. Its goal is to create and strengthen a sense of community among individuals of diverse faiths on campus and in the broader community.
Xavier has more than 100 student clubs, including many with an international focus, such as the African Student Association, International Students Society, the Japanese Club, Middle Eastern Cultural Society, the Student Organization of Latinos and the South Asian Society.
